For those who don’t know, November is National Novel Writing Month (#NaNoWriMo), when authors the world over hunker down and churn out a draft of an approximately 50,000-word manuscript.
For this reason, for the rest of this month I’ll be suspending my Writing Tip Wednesday segment so that I can focus exclusively on #writing!

This year, I’m using NaNoWriMo to finish and publish my book of family-friendly holiday short stories, Midnight Lasagna and Other Stories; and to work on my next nonfiction book, Your Gemini Child: He’s Not Crazy, He’s Just Always in his Head.
If you’re planning to write this month, set aside an hour or several a day and churn out as many words as you can. Remember, this month is about getting the words on paper; you can edit and proofread later.
As fantasy author and world-building expert Cindy Tomamichel states in her blog post here, NanoWrimo is a chance to rekindle that writing magic, which, for us published authors, often gets forgotten amidst the business and promotional side of writing.
So go forth, rekindle that magic, and have a great NaNoWrimo. I’ll see you on the other side of Thanksgiving.
Best,
Maria
