Maria R. Riegger lives just outside Washington, DC, where she spends her days as a banking/corporate attorney and her nights writing fiction, parenting books, and the occasional punchy essay on being human.

A true Gemini, Maria has always lived with one foot on the ground and the other in the clouds. As a kid, she was famous for “not paying attention”- mostly because she was busy inventing stories in her head. She’s been writing since she was thirteen and has never met a language she didn’t want to learn. She speaks French, Spanish, Catalan, and a bit of Portuguese, and she’s lived in the U.K., France, and Spain.

She has also been spotted air-guitaring in public. More than once.
Humor is her love language, and she’s usually the first person friends call when they need someone to laugh at their terrible jokes.

Maria’s brain is equal parts logic and creative chaos. She adored law school – actually missed it – which led friends to suspect she might be slightly unhinged (in the most charming way). When she’s not writing or lawyering, Maria is usually reading, traveling, working on pro bono family law cases, volunteering politically, or doing absolutely anything that isn’t housework.
